Catherine Stocker for Seanad - Vote #1

I am asking for your No. 1 vote to represent the Dublin University constituency in the Seanad because I believe I can drive the change we need to see. The people who currently represent us and their policies do not reflect the modern, compassionate, progressive country that has emerged in recent years. I believe in a politics fuelled by compassion, fairness and accountability.

Ireland is more than an economy, it’s more than FDI and GDP. We are a society first and foremost. I entered politics because I firmly believe that we all benefit from a more equitable, compassionate society. When my daughter was born I looked around me – and as a Trinity graduate I am aware of my privilege – and I knew I could probably protect her – health insurance, education, extra-curricular activities – but I knew that she would be less, that we all are less, for growing up in a society where all children don’t have those opportunities and where their basic needs are not provided for. A society that protects and fights for its most vulnerable members is one where we all thrive.

You have a chance to make a difference with your vote, to continue a proud Trinity tradition of electing representatives who are a voice for a modern, progressive Ireland and who hold government to account. I am asking for your No. 1 vote for me, Catherine Stocker, to drive that change.

Housing.

A core theme of my work on Dublin City Council has been housing policy.

Gender based violence

It’s time for a huge cultural shift - gender-based violence is preventable, and we should prioritise its prevention as a matter of urgency.

Some answers to frequently-asked policy questions.

“Catherine represents the very best of what I know Trinity to be. She’s passionate about positive change, whether it be in housing, justice or educational equality. She brings a huge depth of knowledge to her activism. She would make a wonderful senator and I’ll be proud to vote for Catherine for the Seanad.”

Together For Yes

I was a community leader in the Dublin Bay North Together For Yes campaign in 2018. In the years since the referendum victory, I have also worked with the Together for Safety group who are working for safe access zones and in driving towards a repeal review which focuses on eliminating barriers to accessing abortion care - only available in 9 maternity hospitals and 10 counties

We need your help

To ensure that we can bring about a new way of doing politics that prioritises the benefit of the many over the privilege of the few based on a shared commitment to the common good and on the enduring values of solidarity and fairness.
